Visit Palliser Islands

The Palliser Islands off the coast of French Polynesia are a group of 15 islands and several islets that offer stunning views and sunny beaches. Popular tourist spots include the gorgeous Tefia Beach, known for its clear waters and great snorkeling, as well as Mount Maungaroa, which provides picturesque views from its peak.

Those looking to get a taste of Polynesian culture can visit the village of Matomato on Hao Atoll. Here visitors can learn about traditional customs such as handicraft-making, dance performances, music lessons and more. For history buffs, there is an old World War II airstrip on Takume Island that was used by U.S. forces in 1945 during Operation Flintlock - an attempt to retake islands in the South Pacific from Japanese control following World War II.

Whether it's soaking up some sun or learning about Polynesia's rich culture and history, the Palliser Islands have something for everyone!
