Visit Centrale

The Centrale region of Togo is located in the south-central part of the country. It's capital is Tchaoudjo and it borders two other regions, Kara to the north and Maritime to the south. The region consists primarily of flat savannah with some rugged hills. It features a tropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters.

Although there is not much tourism infrastructure in place yet, visitors can take advantage of numerous natural attractions like Fazao-Malfakassa National Park which covers an area of 806 square kilometers and includes a rich variety of flora and fauna. There are many hiking trails to explore as well as small villages offering great opportunities for cultural exchanges with locals. Also worth visiting is Zoungbodji National Park which lies close by where visitors can go birdwatching or observe crocodiles undisturbed in their natural habitat..

One interesting historical fact about the Central Region is that during WWI, German forces stationed there faced off against British forces from neighboring Ghana at a place called Batanga Hill in 1915 - resulting in one of the last battles fought on African soil before Germany's eventual surrender.
