Visit Silistra Province


The Silistra Province of Bulgaria is a small, rural area in Northeastern Bulgaria, on the Danube River. It is known for its beautiful nature and wildlife, and offers many opportunities for outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, boating and camping. The city of Silistra is the cultural center of the region with a long history as an important trading post.

A must-see tourist destination in Silistra Province is the Kaliakra Cape Nature Reserve, where visitors can explore old fortress walls jutting out into the sea and see protected orca whales swimming close to shore. Another popular spot for tourists is Deultum , an ancient Roman archaeological site featuring ruins of a forum and bath complex.

An interesting historical fact about this region is that it was once part of the Ottoman Empire until 1878 when it was given back to Bulgaria following their liberation from Ottoman rule. This transition has heavily shaped much of its culture today!
